Natural Resource
Penglai is rich in high-quality mineral resources including gold, limestone, granite, volcanic ash, fluorite and marble, which have been proven and mined. The agriculture and animal husbandry are well developed here and top-class fruit, vegetable, chickens and aquatic products are produced.
Climatic Conditions
Penglai is situated at mid-latitude in the North Temperate Zone with continental climate. The natural conditions are as follows: annual average temperature 12.2℃, annual precipitation 608.2mm, annual illumination 2852.2 hours, frost-free days 209.2, relative humidity 65%, annual average wind speed 4.1m/s, no flood, no typhoon.
Geological conditions
The terrain is high in the south and low in the north with the average altitude between 15-25m. The main strata structure in the city is strongly weathered and basalt layer, and the loading capacity of the bearing ground is 300 Kpa.
Infrastructure
Port: Penglai owns two national first-class open ports---Penglai New Port and Luanjiakou Port, where 60,000-ton oil dock, 50,000-ton, 10,000-ton, 5,000-ton berths are constructed. Three 50,000-ton berths are under construction and two 100,000-ton berths are under planning. Qingdao and Yantai Port are located nearby, which are connected with over 100 ports of 70 countries.
Railway: Penglai is 70 km from Yantai Railway Station to the east and the De-Yan Railway, which is under construction, runs across the city with Penglai New Port and Luanjiankou on its way and has 3 marshalling stations here. The train ferry from Yantai to Dalian is now under construction, which will become a transportation artery from north to south after its completion.
Highway: Weiwu Expressway and No. 206 National Highway run across Penglai. Weiwu, Tongsan(Tongjiang--Sanya) and Jiqing expressways are connected with each other forming a transportation network nation-wide. No. 206 National Highway’s Penglai to Yantai section is a special tourist line with eight lanes in two directions.
Aviation: It is 40 minutes ride from Penglai to Yantai Laishan Airport, which has opened over 20 airlines to the domestic big and medium-size cities as well as the international airlines directly to Hongkong, Seoul, Taegu of Korea and Osaka of Japan. There are over 150 flights every week.
Water Supply: The total volume of water resource is 222 million m3, which can fully meet the demand of big projects.
Electricity Supply: There are two 220kv transmission stations and eleven 110kv ones. The transmission capacity is 804.5mega volt ampere. There is a 2600megawatt power plant under construction. The power supply is sufficient.
Natural Gas Supply: The natural gas utilized in Penglai City comes from Bohai Oil and Gas Field. It is so convenient, which can fully meet the demand of big projects.
Heating System: The heat generated from the Penglai Thermal Power Plant can cover an area of 2.4 million m2. Heat supply>1.65 million GJ; Steam pressure: 1.4mpa.
Sewage Disposal: There are 3 sewage treatment plants in the city with daily sewage disposal capacity of 70,000 tons.
Communication: Penglai has convenient communication facilities and all the communication lines are underground cable. Internet is specially connected by fiber optic cable. The GSM signal can be received all around the city.
Administrative Service
With complete inspection agencies including Penglai Customs, the Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, procedures can be easily handled. Penglai Administrative Approval Center as well as Enterprise Complain-handling Center have been set up to provide one-stop service, which creates a good environment for the investors.
Human Resource
There are 153 various kinds of schools in Penglai, including 2 colleges under construction and 2 vocational schools, where high-quality skilled workers can be trained. Penglai, called Dengzhou in ancient time, has a history of 2100 years. It is the originating place of the fairy culture. Dengzhou Port was one of the four commercial ports in ancient China since the Tang Dynasty and had close contact with Japan and Korea and was the starting point of the Silk Road on the sea.

There are 15 standard hospitals in the city with over 10 drug stores. The medical conditions are quite satisfactory here.
