Penglai is a beautiful coastal tourist city and a famous historic & cultural city. In 133 B.C. (Yuan’guang the 2nd year in Han Dynasty), Emperor Han Wudi traveled to the east and established the town of Penglai. In history, Penglai has all along been the center of politics, economics and culture in Shandong Peninsula. There are Penglai Pavilion—one of the four most famous towers in ancient China, Water Fortress—the most complete ancient navy base currently existing nationwide, the Memorial Archway and Temple of the National Hero Qi Jiguang, unique marvelous mirage and the legend of “Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea”.
